OmegaPS™ and Standards

The OmegaPS™ product suite enables a number of international standards.

United Kingdom

  • DEF STAN 00-60 Issue 1
  • DEF STAN 00-60 Issue 2
  • DEF STAN 00-60 Issue 3
  • DEF STAN 00-60 Issue 4
While the MoD has cancelled this standard, it remains in use for many Defence Acquisition projects. DEF STAN 00-60 was replaced with DEF STAN 00-600, which has subsequently been replaced with the Defence Logistics Framework (DFL)

United States Mil Standards

    • MIL-STD-1388-2B/MIL-STD-1388-1A
    • LMI – MIL-PRF-49506
    • MIL-HDBK-502a
    • SAE Standards
    • SAE GEIA-STD-0007

The slide deck available below explains the origins of GEIA-STD-0007, its improvements over MIL-STD-1388 and its support within Government and Industry.

  • SAE TA-STD-0017

MIL-STD-1388-2B/MIL-STD-1388-1A were rescinded in 1996 and replaced by MIL-PRF-49506. MIL-PRF49506 was replaced in 2007 by SAE GEIA-STD-0007 when DoD adopted it as an acceptable Industry standard. A number of projects for DoD and many other defence departments rely on MIL-STD-1388-2B data sets to acquire and support existing assets. Since MIL-PRF-49506 is a less prescriptive requirement data can be provided in either MIL-STD-1388-2B or SAE GEIA-STD-0007 format and be compliant. MIL-HDBK-502a provides guidance for Product Support Analysis.

The replacement for MIL-STD-1388-1A is SAE TA-STD-0017 which was not released until 2012 and adopted by DoD that same year. These standards provide guidance on all Integrated Logistics Support Tasks or Product Support Activities. The OmegaPS product is built to enable the collection of data resulting from these Tasks or Activities.

  • S1000D
  • S2000M
  • S3000L
  • S4000M
  • MSG-3

OmegaPS has modules which enable S1000D, S2000M and MSG-3. Pennant is committed to enabling all future releases of these standards. Pennant is reviewing S3000L and will be releasing a new Logistics Product application in the near future. S4000M is not yet matured to the point of deploying specific solutions. S5000F is also under review by Pennant. Most European nations still use either MIL-STD-1388-2B or DEF STAN 00-60 for their data definition.

S1000D and S2000M are both mapped in OmegaPS for MIL-STD-1388-2B and SAE GEIA-STD-0007 (still maturing).

  • DEF AUST 5692 Issue 1
  • DEF AUST 5692 Issue 2

The Australian standards are continuing to evolve and OmegaPS supports both. Many aspects of the new DEF AUST 5692 Issue 2 were data solutions already available within the OmegaPS configuration released to the Australian Defence Organization.

  • A-LM-505-000/AG-002
  • A-LM-505-000/AG-003 (MIL-STD-1388-1A)
  • A-LM-505-000/AG-004 (MIL-STD-1388-2B)
  • D-01-100-214/SF-000 (CFP 214)

  • SAE GEIA-STD-0007
  • SAE TA-STD-0017

Canada wrote and released its own ILS and LSA guidance in A-LM-505-000/AG-001 and A-LM-505-000/AG-002. The other two A-LM-505-000/AG-003 and A-LM-505-000/AG-004 are simply cover pages for the rescinded US MIL Standards. In December 2013 the Royal Canada Navy adopted the SAE standards. OmegaPS supports all these. D-01-100-214/SF-000 is the Initial Provisioning standard for Canada. The Canadian Provisioning module specifically addresses these data requirements.
